Organization Ideas

My Inspiration

My Destiny

Imagine walking into your friend’s house and everything is so neat and in all the right places. Now tell me, do these friends have kids?  If not, then do they have animals? Do they work?  If the answers to these are yes, then tell me how often you have seen their house perfect.  Sure, maybe the room you are hanging out in is put together, but are all the rooms organized and perfectly clean?

I just had my helper over the other day and she helped me organize the kitchen and clean up the counters.  Next day, the house is cluttered and dirty again.  Don’t even look at my garage! It is on the list of things to do, the never-ending list.  So my question to you is, does a Pinterest house exist for people who have kids, dogs, or work?  One of my friends showed me pictures of her sister’s living room and it was gorgeous! Everything had a specific place and was so neat.  There were no toys lying around or visible dog hair on the couch or floors.

The thing is, even if a Pinterest home can exist, do I even want it to?  I love having my children hanging out with us and that is typically in the living room. No, it is not because we watch tv all day because honestly when my children are up I am focused on them.

I typically have music playing in the background or we listen to the musical toys the kids are playing with and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

My children are my life. I want people to come into my house and see their artwork hanging up, their report cards on the fridge, and pictures of them everywhere!  I don’t want people coming over feeling on edge because the house doesn’t look lived in so they feel like they don’t want to move or they will mess the house up.  I want them to feel the presence of my children.  If you have ever come to my house you will see a fridge covered entirely with magnets that have pictures on them.  Then you move into the living room that has a ball pit in it, a bin full of toys, mega blocks lying around the floor, a floor mat that covers a large area on my hard tile floors, a rocking elephant, a panda chair, and multiple musical items lying around.  You may even see my daughter’s water bottle lying around, or maybe two or three. Am I saying that your house should be dirty and unorganized? No, but I am saying that we shouldn’t focus so much on having our house look in pristine condition 24/7 and instead focus on our children.  My children’s Uncle Mark says it best, there is no reason to apologize for looking like you live in your house.
