Glacier National Park, Kalispell, Montana

I could have stayed up in these mountains all day.

My family chose to do the Going-to-the-Sun-Road, and it was worth it! We did make the mistake of not buying tickets ahead of time, and we found out we would not be able to go, but this was a blessing in disguise. I did all my research, and there was a vehicle reservation requirement for vehicles entering the Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor Reservation Area between 6 am and 4 pm daily. The only reason I even researched this was that my best friend told me she tried to go to a national park and found out she needed a ticket ahead of time, and they were all sold out. Reserving times was a new thing since all the Covid crap. So, I’m a hot mess realizing the trip was about to be ruined because we couldn’t go on this once-in-a-lifetime drive through Glacier National Park. My husband decided we should just go before 6 am.

I looked at comments online and found out that is what many people had done. They either went before or after when the tickets were not required. So we wake up our teenage foster son at the crack of dawn and our 4month old baby girl and head off to view the mountains. It was spectacular! We got to the top of the mountains by sunrise, and we could see the sun come up over them and slowly light the entire place up. There was also no traffic at all! We were able to take so many beautiful pictures! If you want to take a family somewhere, this is the place. There is so much to do at Glacier, like camp out (but I am too chicken to do this with the bears around), kayaking, hiking the trails (there is wildlife around-my husband refused to hike for this reason), and of course, sight seeing. If you want to buy tickets ahead of time, you can go to this website. You will not be disappointed to take a trip to Glacier National Park!
