First Trimester

Someone reached out to me and asked if I would create a post on must-have items for pregnancy. This took a while to construct because I wanted to include everything that helped me! There were plenty of things I tried, but not everything worked. I have had three pregnancies and two births. The following items are things that worked for me. It may not work for everyone, but it is a good starting point. If you have any questions, please reach out to me under the contact button.

I did set up this blog under three sections, first trimester, second trimester, and third trimester. The first trimester has its ups and downs. You are so excited because it worked! You are pregnant! Or maybe you have been pregnant a few times before, but it hasn’t completely worked out yet. I understand all the emotions going on in your head! The most important thing is not to stress out. I know, I know, easier said than done. I’m pretty sure when people told me not to stress, it stressed me out even more.

On top of all these emotions, you may struggle with morning sickness, fatigue, bloating/cramping, and tender breasts. Here is a list of things I highly recommend to help ease some of these symptoms for each trimester.

1. Body Pillow

This body pillow was 100% worth the money! Some people wait until the 2nd or 3rd trimester to get it, but it made a huge difference for me in the first trimester. There are many different kinds of body pillows, but I chose the one with the most reviews, and it didn’t disappoint!

2. Sea-Bands

I did find the Sea Bands to help with nausea on most days. Sometimes I still had it, but it made it bearable to get through the day.

4. Smarty Pants Prenatals

Prenatals are necessary to take while pregnant, or even when you are trying to get pregnant. I struggled to eat many different things, and the idea of swallowing a pill made me start to gag. So instead, I found these prentals that are gummies and full of all the wonderful things needed for your baby’s growth! I took these during all my pregnancies, and after when I breastfed.

7. Saltine Crackers

I had these next to my bedside every night during the first trimester. I had to eat one as soon as I woke up before I moved, so I had something in my stomach. I was more likely to have morning sickness if my stomach was empty.

8. Pregnancy Underwear

Is your underwear feeling tight all of a sudden or just uncomfortable? Then these are what you want! I was hesitant to buy them since they look so low, and they are pretty low, but I promise you these are so comfortable!

9. New Bra

I know these say nursing bras, which they are great for, but they are also super comfortable! So if you have tender breasts already, I highly recommend you purchase these now.

10. Cocoa Butter Lotion

I didn’t end up with stretch marks with my first child, but with my second child, I did. They didn’t appear until the last two weeks, even though I did use cocoa butter daily. I heard if you scratch your belly, it makes it worse, so this could be why I got it. I’m not sure how accurate that is and haven’t done research on it yet. But it has been almost a year since having my second child, and my stretch marks have faded so much and are barely noticeable.

Second Trimester

This was my favorite trimester because you get a burst of energy compared to the 1st trimester, you are starting to show, and you can start to feel the baby move! This doesn’t mean everything is going to be sunshine and daisies. You still have a growing belly which can cause some discomfort. Hopefully, the following items can help you with the discomfort and stay comfortable!

Things are starting to grow, including your feet. Yes, your feet may grow or, in my case, drop the arch causing your feet to become larger. Your feet may also start swelling, making it harder to bend down and tie your shoes! So get some of these comfy slippers to make your feet feel better and can be slipped on.

2. Labor Prep Tea

I read a lot about red raspberry tea for pregnancy. Most of the research supports drinking it towards the end of the third trimester to help prepare the body for delivery. I pushed both my babies out in less than a half hour, and I believe this was why!

3. Bath Salt

I added this here again because it is that good! I promise you this is so helpful and relaxes your entire body! Just be careful getting in and out of the tub. I had to have my husband help me out toward the end of my pregnancy.

7. Casting Kit

This isn’t for everyone, but I thought it was so cool to see how fast my belly shrunk after giving birth. Some people paint these and hang them, but I threw mine away after a few months. It was a gift we got, and it was a fun experience for my husband and me to do. We even got to compare our bellies then. It made us laugh.

10. Heating and Cordless Massage Pad

While working, it became challenging to work when my back, sciatica, and round ligaments were in so much pain. This was so handy because it was cordless, and I could wear it under my clothes all day without anyone noticing.
